4.10.1. Multiple Typesetters

Often, we want to weave the same document in different formats, for example, using Latex for book output, HTML for a web, and plain text for email and news.

This facility is provided by a weaver front end called a multiplexor. The multiplexor keeps a list of active weavers, and sends every method call to all weavers in the list that supports that method. It's not an error if the weaver doesn't have the method, but it certainly is an error if it does, but the call fails.
